Today is the last day of the year and 2018 draws to a close. It's a welcome time for looking back at the year that passed, reflecting on events and progress made - both on a personal level and in business.
In 2018, we started brewing at the new location. It was a relief beyond measure to finally be able to brew after having struggled with equipment, installations and getting things up and running. Now, most of the teething problems have been addressed and we're ready to make further adjustments to optimize brewing and packaging in 2019.
In the brewing business - as in any business - you find yourself facing problems and finding solutions. It's a continuous cycle that brings reflections, learnings and growth. Looking back at the year that passed, this cycle of ever improving is something that I am truly grateful for.
At Alefarm Brewing, we strive to create memorable beer experiences for all. Our ambition is not to be better than anyone else. There is no arms race here with us. Our ambition is simply to make great beer and have fun while doing it, an ambition that will be carried over to 2019 and beyond.
On the business side, our sales have grown roughly 1,700% since we started brewing in May. This would never have been possible without the dedication and hard work put forward by the Alefam - the team working at the brewery every day. I wish to thank you all tremendously for what you have done in this regard.
On the personal side, 2018 was the year in which I married the love of my life, Britt van Slyck. Some of you know Britt due to her role as Operations Manager at the brewery. We met on a summery day in San Francisco and married at the Palace of Fine Arts in October. This is truly a family business.
Finally and most importantly, I would like to thank each and every one of you for the support you have shown us during the past year. Whenever you support Alefarm Brewing, you support us - the people behind the brewery - and it means the world to us.
With love, hope and dreams for the year to come, I wish you Happy New Year!
All the best,
Kasper Tidemann
